About Me

I grew up in urban California as the daughter of immigrant parents. My father worked multiple jobs as a security guard, bus driver, and handyman to support my mother and their six children. He did the kind of honest, essential work that keeps this country running.
When I entered law school, I wanted to help hard-working people like my father — people who had sacrificed for years but still struggled to get ahead. That passion led me to working as a student attorney with the Fair Housing Legal Clinic, where I fought against housing discrimination. It carried me into Cook County court as a judicial law clerk in the mortgage foreclosure division, and later to the Cook County Legal Aid and Housing Clinic, where I helped provide assistance to families facing eviction.
After several years in public interest law, I opened my own firm to work directly with clients — one person at a time — and give them the focused attention they deserved.
I chose to focus on bankruptcy law because it just made sense. If my parents had filed bankruptcy, they would have had a different life. If I had filed bankruptcy, I could have had a different life. I wanted to give others the opportunity to wipe the slate clean, escape overwhelming debt, and finally move forward with dignity and hope.
